Custom Newborn Portraiture

1.)    You’ve seen my work and now you want to schedule a session:  Fantastic!!!

2.)    We pick a time that works for both of us (when baby is NO MORE THAN 14 DAYS OLD!) and you put a 50% down payment on your session fee. This is non-refundable because booking a session guarantees my time to YOU :)   After this, I’ll send you an email with a link to an online contract for you to sign.  No worries though, this contract isn’t anything scary :)  The contract merely states the session terms that we have agreed upon, some model release info, and a bit of basic legal mumbo jumbo to firm up our agreement.  If you have any questions, be sure to ask!  I’m happy to discuss anything about the contract.  It’s put in place to protect your investment as well as mine so I don’t want you to be afraid of it :)

3.)    We discuss colors that you have in mind for props as well as guidelines for pre-session prep (to make sure baby is good and sleepy for his/her session) :)  I provide props.  If you would like to bring a special blanket, hair band, etc., feel free to do so and I will use it if time allows.

4.)    Day of the session-

– Your session will be 1-2+  hours  in studio (or outside if weather permits.)  Session times vary greatly for newborns because they are unpredictable :)

-The shooting area for the day will be nice and toasty warm for your newborn since my style of newborn photography involves babies that are  down to their diapers, a swaddle wrap, or “el natural.”  I have swaddle wraps and diaper covers, but if you have cute ones, feel free to bring them along too.

-Because the shooting area will be warm, you may want to dress in layers for your own comfort.  I usually shoot in a tank top and lightweight pants for this reason, so don’t be surprised when you come in and see me dressed this way :)  There is a reason for my madness!!

-Parents and siblings can be in some of the newborn shots if you would like…in fact, I encourage mommas to definitely be in at least one picture!!  If you are bringing siblings along, please bring a caregiver along with them so that you do not have to worry about them during the rest of the session.  If siblings will be in pictures, I will do those pictures first and I suggest having the caregiver go ahead and take the sibling after that so that we can keep the studio nice and quiet for the newborn.

-Remainder of session fee is due on date of session.

5.)    After the session

–  Within 1-2 weeks you will receive a link via email to view your proofing album.  The images in this album will be UNEDITED (Straight Out Of the Camera, SOOC) images.

– From this album, you can select which photos you would like included on your disc and print purchases and  those images will be meticulously tweaked (edited) to ensure that the colors are correct, blemishes are removed and that the finished image is the best it can be.  This kind of editing is standard for all purchased product and does not cost an extra “retouching fee” (like it does with some photographers!)  I want to portray my best work and your babies perfection in each of my images.

-I am happy to help you select your prints, digital images, and printed products in person, via phone or via email.  If you are interested in purchasing large print products for your home I will even help you measure and make decisions for those as well!  I want you to LOVE what you select :)

– At this point, a 50% deposit on your print/digital image purchase is due.

6.)      2-4 weeks after the session

-Your order will be complete and will either be made available for pick-up or shipped directly to you!

-Final payment is due before pick-up/delivery.

-I will also post an online album of your finished images so that you can view and share the final images with friends and family.

Other Info:

Session fees include up to 4 people.  Each additional person will be charged at $20 per person. Why is there an additional charge for groups over 4 people?  The more people, the more editing that will need to be done.  The more editing, the more time put into wrapping up the session.  Make sense? Hope so! :)

Print Credits.  If your session fee came with a print credit,   the print credit must be redeemed within 7 days of your proofing album being posted online.  Print credits expire after 7 days.

Digital Images.  Only edited images will be given.  Why can’t unedited images be purchased?  The images from your session represent my art, my business…and YOUR special moments.  Until images have gone through my editing, they are not representative of either of us!
